According to the latest data from the Danish Gambling Authority (Spillemyndigheden), the total gross gaming revenue (GGR) for the regulated gambling market in Denmark in June 2025 was 585 million Danish kroner, a year-on-year decrease of 17%.

The biggest drag came from sports betting. Due to the absence of the 2024 Summer European Football Championship, sports betting revenue in June was only 126 million Danish kroner, a sharp decline of 53.5%. The regulatory body noted that this event has always significantly boosted betting activities, and its absence this year directly led to a substantial reduction in revenue.

In contrast, online casinos continued to maintain a growth momentum, with revenues reaching 333 million Danish kroner in June, a year-on-year increase of 10%. This has solidified iGaming's dominant position in the Danish market, currently accounting for more than half of the market share. The ongoing expansion of mobile platforms is seen as the main driver of growth. Earlier this year, in May, online casino spending surged by over 40% year-on-year, marking one of the fastest growth rates since the implementation of the current Danish gambling law in 2012.

Offline operations continued their downward trend. In June, revenue from physical casinos fell 2.2% to 32 million Danish kroner, slot machine revenue declined 6.5% to 92 million Danish kroner; physical bingo games remained at 2 million Danish kroner, roughly stable. Overall, more Danish players are accelerating their shift to online platforms.

Meanwhile, regulatory efforts have further intensified. In July, Spillemyndigheden updated its marketing and promotion guidelines, introducing stricter disclosure requirements and promotional restrictions. In June, the agency also received court support to block 178 illegal gambling websites at once, setting a historical record.

In terms of responsible gambling, the number of registrants in the national self-exclusion register ROFUS continues to increase, expected to exceed 60,000 people by early 2025. Data from the hotline StopSpillet shows that males aged 18-25 are still the most frequent seekers of help.

Overall, the Danish gambling market in June 2025 presented a scenario of "mixed fortunes": sports betting saw a significant decline due to the absence of events, while online casinos continued to lead, becoming the core driving force of industry growth.
