The Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) has introduced a new official seal to help consumers identify licensed and regulated online sports betting within the state.
Licensed operators must display this logo on their digital platforms to indicate that their sports betting activities are legally authorized by the MGC, ensuring compliance with Massachusetts' consumer protection, data security, and responsible gambling standards.
This seal is part of a broader effort by the MGC to promote safe and regulated gambling options in Massachusetts, aiming to enable residents to distinguish between legitimate services and potentially harmful unlicensed sites.
Currently, there are seven licensed online sports betting companies operating in Massachusetts, each adhering to the state's regulatory requirements, including Know Your Customer (KYC) protocols to verify eligibility and protect user data.
The new seal aims to provide consumers with a quick, reliable method to identify legitimate gambling platforms.
It is important to note: Illegal offshore sports betting has long posed risks to American gamblers, including data breaches and financial losses.
Regarding the launch of the seal, MGC Commissioner Eileen O'Brien stated, "The MGC has invested significant effort to ensure that federally licensed operators share our values and are committed to protecting consumer rights and responsible gambling.
"Residents of Massachusetts who choose to engage in sports betting should know that their data, personal information, and financial information are protected, and only the legal market can provide these protections. By finding this seal, users will be able to easily identify legal sports betting and illegal operators."
