Ontario's online gambling revenue reached CAD 311 million (approximately USD 226 million) in July, showing a slight increase from the same period last year and slightly higher than the level in June.
According to iGaming Ontario data, unadjusted total gaming revenue grew by 29% year-over-year. Monthly revenue increased by 1% from the previous month, but still below the historical high of CAD 338 million set in May.
In July, online casino revenue was CAD 252.3 million, accounting for 81% of total revenue; internet sports betting revenue exceeded CAD 52.7 million, accounting for 17%; and online poker revenue was CAD 5.9 million, accounting for 2%.
In terms of total betting, online spending in July reached CAD 7.56 billion, a year-over-year increase of 24% and a 4% increase from June. Of this, consumers bet CAD 6.74 billion at online casinos, accounting for 89% of all online bets; sports betting amounted to CAD 688 million, and poker betting was CAD 139 million.
Regarding active players, there were 948,000 active accounts in July, a 6% decrease from June. However, the average revenue per active player increased by 8% month-over-month to USD 328, indicating a rise in individual player betting contributions.
