The Botswana Gambling Authority recently received the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System certification from the Botswana Bureau of Standards (BOBS), marking an important step in the field of gambling regulation and fully complying with internationally recognized management standards.
At the award ceremony held at the headquarters in Gaborone, the chairman of the Gambling Authority, Marvin Tokozani Toto, emphasized that this certification covers systems ranging from licensing and compliance to responsible gambling, reflecting the Authority's commitment to high-standard regulation and continuous development. Toto pointed out that in addition to regulatory responsibilities, the organization also plans to promote economic diversification and create over 2000 jobs through new licensing projects for Limited Payout Machines (LPM) and gambling operations.
The ISO 9001:2015 certification represents the organization's ability to continuously provide services that meet customer and regulatory requirements and has passed the rigorous audit of authoritative bodies. Professor Goemeone Mogomotsi, the acting permanent secretary of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, highly praised the Gambling Authority's achievement of obtaining certification on its first application, stating that this symbolizes a significant shift in regulatory culture and enhances Botswana's international image as a "trustworthy and capable regulatory environment".
The Botswana Gambling Authority can now proudly display the certification logo at its office and online platforms. Botsile Kebapetse, the managing director of BOBS, stated that this certification highlights Botswana's leading position in standardization and compliance, further ensuring the high-quality development of the national gambling industry.
