A 21-year-old woman from Taiwan was taken to Thailand after being invited by a close friend. Her family later discovered from surveillance footage that she went to the airport in a short-sleeve shirt and hot pants, without any large luggage. Subsequently, her family received a ransom call and learned that their daughter had been taken to a park in Myanmar, prompting them to seek police assistance immediately.
According to news reports, the woman received an invitation from a good friend and left for Thailand from Kaohsiung Xiaogang Airport at around 5 PM on November 6.
Before departing, she traveled light, carrying only a crossbody bag, which was unusual. Upon arrival in Thailand, she was immediately transferred and revealed over the phone to her boyfriend that she was "forced to frequently change vehicles, surrounded by gunmen, and escape was hopeless." Soon after, she lost contact.
The next day, her father received a ransom text stating that his daughter was detained in Thailand, her passport and mobile phone had been confiscated, and a ransom of 70,000 US dollars (approximately 94,500 Singapore dollars) was demanded. The family later found out through channels that she had been taken to a park in Myanmar.
After investigation by the authorities, it was confirmed that the woman had boarded a plane to Bangkok, Thailand, on the afternoon of the 6th. The family has been contacted and the case has been reported to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Emergency Assistance Center, hoping to locate her whereabouts as soon as possible.
