The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority is going all out to reverse the sharp decline in Canadian tourists. Data shows that in 2025, the number of Canadian visitors to Las Vegas plummeted by 24%, to just about 1.2 million. To counter this downturn, the LVCVA has approved a three-year marketing plan worth nearly $3.5 million, aimed at revitalizing this key market that accounts for 25% of international tourists. Simply put, Canadians are not coming anymore, and the city is desperate to spend money to bring them back.

Reasons for the decline: weak Canadian dollar, rising costs, political friction
The sharp drop in Canadian tourists is the result of multiple factors. The overall increase in costs in Las Vegas, the weakening of the Canadian dollar leading to decreased purchasing power, and political tensions surrounding US-Canada relations (such as former President Trump's comments and tariffs on Canadian products) have all impacted Canadians' willingness to travel. The Vice President of Marketing at LVCVA admits that although other international markets have compensated for some of the shortfall, the Canadian market's importance is irreplaceable and must be restored to its former level.
Combined approach: media advertising + flight packages + cultural integration
From July 2026 to June 2029, LVCVA will collaborate with Reach Global Marketing to launch a series of comprehensive marketing strategies, including media advertising, increasing direct flights to Las Vegas, and offering packaged deals of flights and hotels. Additionally, the authority is exploring ways to enhance the appeal to Canadian tourists by increasing performances by Canadian musicians at casino resorts and introducing Canadian cultural elements.
Casino self-help: Circa's "affordable consumption" attracts 15,000 in its first month
Apart from official efforts, some casinos have taken matters into their own hands. Circa Resort and Casino's "affordable consumption" campaign allows Canadian guests to settle payments at a 1:1 rate between the Canadian dollar and the US dollar, avoiding the usual exchange rate loss. In just the first month, Circa's three properties attracted over 15,000 Canadian visitors, resulting in bookings for over 2,700 rooms. This successful case proves that targeted strategies can effectively win back Canadian customers. Want to know the latest updates on Las Vegas tourism? PASA official website keeps you updated.
