Philippine electronic wallet GCash announced that starting from 8 PM on August 16, 2025 (Saturday), it will temporarily suspend the access to online gaming features through GLife. Users are required to withdraw funds to their GCash wallet before this date, otherwise, they will only be able to manage their funds directly through the gaming platform website.

This move follows the memorandum No. M-2025-029 from the Central Bank of the Philippines (BSP), which requires regulated mobile payment applications to suspend in-app gaming access to ensure a safe and reliable digital payment environment. GCash stated that it will support the enhancement of online gaming security measures and continue to cooperate with regulatory authorities and industry partners to protect user funds.

BSP Deputy Governor Mamerto Tangonan previously pointed out at a Senate hearing that all electronic wallets must remove icons and links pointing to online gambling platforms within 48 hours, and completely sever connections with online gaming platforms by Sunday. This marks a strict regulation of online gambling in the mobile payment sector in the Philippines.

GCash explicitly reminds users:

Access to gaming features through GLife will stop at 8 PM on August 16;

Users need to withdraw game account funds to their GCash wallet before this time;

Afterwards, remaining funds in the account can only be accessed through the gaming platform website.

This adjustment aims to strengthen the regulation of online gambling, ensuring the safety of user funds and financial health.
