Philippine local business giant, Alliance Global Group Inc. (AGI), the parent company of Resorts World Manila, recently submitted a statement to the Philippine Stock Exchange, revealing plans to build integrated resorts (IR) in Boracay and Cebu, with a total investment that could reach up to 2 billion US dollars, attracting widespread attention.
AGI has officially launched the Newcoast Boracay "Boutique Integrated Resort" project, with an initial investment of 300 million US dollars, covering a 1,200-seat convention center, multiple hotels, and entertainment facilities. Although there were rumors about this project earlier, the group has now clearly reiterated its commitment to long-term development.
Simultaneously, AGI is also planning another boutique resort in Mactan Newtown, Cebu, with an expected investment of 300 million US dollars. The project will include a 2,500-seat convention center and new hotel complexes, integrating existing residential, commercial, and office resources to promote overall development and upgrading.
AGI noted that both resort projects are implemented by its subsidiary, Travellers International Hotel Group Inc. The group emphasized that considering long-term plans, the total investment in Boracay and Cebu could exceed 2 billion US dollars, demonstrating its ambition in the Philippine entertainment and tourism industry.
Furthermore, AGI announced a 2025 capital expenditure budget of 59 billion pesos (approximately 1.03 billion US dollars), covering the group's expansion plans in various sectors. The goal is to increase the number of hotel rooms from 10,000 to 12,000 by 2028 and to continue advancing investments in gambling, including the Westside City Project in Entertainment City Manila.
In addition, the Boracay resort will not only feature a boutique casino but also plans to build an 18-hole golf course, nearly 2,000 rooms, and a 1-kilometer exclusive beach, eventually forming an integrated tourism community that includes 11 residential projects, 4 hotels, and multiple entertainment districts.
The Newtown area in Cebu, a 30-hectare large development area, has already built 10 residential buildings, 5 office buildings, and includes two high-end hotels such as Savoy Hotel Mactan. In the future, this area will also become a key hub for tourism and gambling cooperation between the Philippines and China.
