The latest data released by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) shows that the total gross gaming revenue (GGR) for the first quarter of 2025 reached 104.12 billion pesos, with an annual growth rate of 27.44%, indicating a continuous recovery and rapid growth of the industry.

Alejandro Tengco, Chairman and CEO of PAGCOR, highlighted that the biggest highlight of this quarter is the electronic gaming projects (eGames and eBingo) surpassing physical casinos for the first time as the largest source of revenue, generating 51.39 billion pesos, accounting for 49.36% of the total revenue. Tengco stated that this shift reflects the rapid change in player preferences towards digital and mobile platforms, with online gaming becoming a key driver for industry growth.

Despite the strong rise of online gaming, physical casinos still maintain a significant market position. The data shows that licensed casinos in the Philippines achieved revenues of 49.28 billion pesos in the first quarter, accounting for 47.32% of the total revenue, slightly lower than the same period last year. Tengco noted that the physical casinos located in Manila's Entertainment City and Clark Freeport Zone remain important pillars for attracting tourists and supporting the local economy, with potential for future development.

In addition, PAGCOR-operated casinos also contributed 3.45 billion pesos, accounting for 3.31% of the total gross revenue.

Tengco emphasized that PAGCOR will continue to promote the application of technology, optimize regulatory policies, and strengthen player protection mechanisms. He pointed out: "We are committed to expanding the market while also ensuring social responsibility and legality, creating a sustainable gaming environment."
