Earning more revenue in physical casinos has become a priority for the banking payment giant Trustly.
As a leading global bank payment platform, Trustly is accelerating its expansion into the physical casino sector and promises to help casino players invest funds into games faster and more conveniently.
John Parsons, Chief Commercial Officer of Trustly's gaming business, stated that traditional cashless payment methods have been hindered in physical casinos due to the complexity and inconvenience of most digital wallets.
Trustly offers a minimalist solution: players can simply scan a QR code on a slot machine and transfer money directly from their personal bank account to the gaming machine, all within 30 seconds, without the need to create an account, download an app, or register additionally.
"The core issue with cashless payments is, 'How can we get the money onto the machines as quickly as possible?'" Parsons pointed out, "Trustly was born for payment, so it can truly solve the pain points of cashless payments."
Since its establishment in 2008, Trustly has processed over $500 billion in transactions worldwide, covering more than 30 countries and regions, and partnering with over 9,000 merchants. Its Americas headquarters is located in San Carlos, California, now processing over 300 transactions per second, connecting with more than 12,000 banks, 8,000 of which are in the US, covering 99% of US bank accounts. The Trustly platform operates stably, with an uptime of 99.99%, and provides 24/7 multi-channel technical support.
Parsons emphasized that casino operators should prioritize the scalability and stability of the platform when choosing a cashless payment service provider. "During peak times, when players transfer funds frequently, operators must ensure the system is robust," he said, "With 15 years of experience and hundreds of billions of dollars in payment history, Trustly can provide truly reliable cashless payment services for casinos."
Currently, well-known online gambling brands such as DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, Caesars Digital, and Hard Rock Digital have adopted Trustly's payment solutions.
Deepening the layout in physical casinos, accelerating technology integration
To extend the cashless experience offline, Trustly is also partnering with several content management system (CMS) providers, including IGT, Light & Wonder, and Konami. Physical casinos aim to maximize the use of existing technology in slot machines, rather than installing additional card readers or new devices.
Parsons revealed that IGT is about to launch a service interface with a dynamic QR code, allowing players to securely connect their personal bank accounts and recharge through their mobile phones; Light & Wonder's related system has also entered the Beta testing phase. Additionally, Acres and CasinoTrac are also collaborating with Trustly.
Currently, Station Casinos is the first physical casino operator to partner with Trustly, Parsons added, with more partnerships under negotiation.
With Trustly, players do not need to download apps, register accounts, or remember complex passwords. Just scan, log in to the bank account, and complete the recharge. "We combine Trustly's proprietary security technology with the bank's security protection to ensure the entire process is secure," Parsons said.
Trustly has also partnered with two CMS system developers, preparing to expand cashless payments to table games.
Bank payment support, aiding casino KYC and risk control
As a leading global bank payment service provider, Trustly allows players to complete payments in seconds without the need for debit or credit cards. By accessing bank-side KYC data, Trustly can instantly verify player identity and read account information, effectively reducing fraud risk and assisting operators in fulfilling customer identity verification (KYC) and anti-money laundering (AML) obligations.
Parsons pointed out that Trustly has account access authorization from players, can check account status in real time, including whether funds are sufficient and whether there are signs of financial stress. Players can also set their own daily withdrawal limits to further secure their funds.
Although cashless transactions are still in their infancy in physical casinos, Parsons believes that this trend is "almost irreversible."
"Ten years ago, I predicted that the cashless era was coming, and that judgment was correct. Various frictions in the past hindered player acceptance," he said, "Now, Trustly has cleared the barriers through bank payments, providing an excellent payment experience, which will not only reshape offline casinos but also accelerate the future development of online and offline integration."
