In Kampong Cham Province, Cambodia, a Chinese citizen was fatally stabbed by a newly hired compatriot at Qixinghai Changwan Company. The victim, a Chinese "HR manager," was attacked with a fruit knife.
The incident occurred last night, and police reports indicate that the victim was Qiu Yiyong (34 years old), from Fujian Province, China.
The suspect, Li, was apprehended by security after the attack and handed over to the police.
According to Li, he arrived at the company on the afternoon of the 19th and met with Qiu Yiyong. Qiu led him around the company premises and took him to Building C to arrange accommodation.
After reaching the dormitory, Qiu asked him to undress and hand over his bag for inspection, which he refused due to concerns over theft. Dissatisfied, Qiu then physically assaulted him.
In response, he took a fruit knife from his bag and stabbed Qiu in the upper abdomen. However, Qiu pulled out the knife and attempted to retaliate. Security personnel arrived upon hearing Qiu's cries for help and intervened in time to stop the conflict.
The police reported that Qiu was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his severe injuries and passed away.
At the scene in the dormitory of Building C, bloodstains were found along with several items, including a pair of black leather shoes, a mobile phone, and other personal belongings.
The autopsy revealed that Qiu's fatal injury was a stab wound to his abdomen, causing severe internal organ damage.
The case is still under further investigation, and the police have taken Li to the local police station for further questioning.
