The Brazilian Ministry of Finance has signed two separate agreements aimed at enhancing the integrity of sports betting, preparing for the launch of the regulated online market early next year.
Firstly, the Brazilian Ministry of Finance, through the Secretariat of Awards and Betting (SPA), has signed a Technical Cooperation Agreement (ACT) with Sportradar to maintain the integrity of the country's sports betting and online gaming market.
Sportradar will provide technical support to SPA personnel and assist in reporting any suspicious incidents it detects. Additionally, the provider will also support ongoing education and training related to match-fixing for SPA employees.
Sportradar's Integrity Cooperation Manager in Brazil, Felippe Marchetti, stated: "Signing the ACT is a source of pride for Sportradar, and we appreciate the Brazilian Ministry of Finance's trust in Sportradar's Integrity Services expertise.
“This act reflects the mutual commitment to establish a sustainable, regulated, and integrity-based sports betting industry in Brazil.”
Similarly, the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) has signed a sports betting integrity cooperation agreement with the Brazilian Ministry of Finance.
Under this agreement, IBIA and the Ministry will share information on suspicious betting activities related to sports in Brazil and jointly conduct investigations.

The association explained that requiring operators applying for licenses to join an independent sports integrity monitoring body will help "monitor, evaluate, and protect the betting transactions of the sports betting market in the region," and maintain the integrity of Brazilian sports.
IBIA CEO Khalid Ali commented: “IBIA is pleased to reach this agreement with the Brazilian Ministry of Finance and welcomes the government's increased focus on creating a robust sports betting integrity ecosystem to combat match-fixing. Cooperation and information sharing are key to the success of this ecosystem.
“Under this agreement, IBIA will identify and report suspicious betting on Brazilian sports events to the Ministry to support investigative actions. This will include detailed customer account data available only to IBIA and its members.”
