The Bundesliga has announced an expanded partnership with global sports data and technology provider Sportradar, through new data integration and technological innovations. This latest collaboration not only continues the two parties' close cooperation of 20 years but will also be fully implemented in the 2025-26 season, aiming to provide unprecedented interactive, viewing, and betting experiences for operators and fans worldwide.
Under the agreement, Sportradar will fully utilize the vast data resources collected by the Bundesliga. A single Bundesliga match can generate up to 3.6 million data points, which, processed by Sportradar's proprietary AI algorithms and real-time tracking technology, will become the core driving force for the betting market and fan interaction. Among them, the real-time player market is one of the highlights of this cooperation: based on players' real-time tracking data and AI models, each match will add about 240 betting options, further enriching the in-game betting ecosystem.
Meanwhile, Sportradar will also launch 4Sight Streaming, an award-winning streaming technology that seamlessly integrates AI-driven image overlays and actionable data insights into live broadcasts, allowing operators to provide a more immersive viewing experience for players. The new product also includes an enhanced live match tracker, which achieves dynamic visualization through computer vision and tracking data, allowing fans to experience richer in-game interactions directly on the betting platform.
This cooperation is not just a technological upgrade but is also seen as part of the Bundesliga's internationalization strategy. Bundesliga International CEO Peer Naubert emphasized: "The Bundesliga has always regarded innovation as core. Our long-term cooperation with Sportradar has kept us at the forefront of the integration of betting and media products. The latest technology and products will ensure the Bundesliga remains a leader in the global sports entertainment landscape."
Patrick Mostboeck, Senior Vice President of Fan Engagement at Sportradar, in an interview with Gambling Insider, said: "Our cooperation with the Bundesliga began in 2005, and together we have witnessed how sports data can drive the transformation of global fan interaction methods. Today, we are leveraging AI and big data to provide more personalized and immersive experiences for fans and bettors. In this process, finding a balance between information richness and avoiding oversaturation is crucial."
He exemplified, "For instance, in enhanced real-time metrics, we do not provide users with countless data points, but rather select information that is truly valuable to bettors. Similarly, in 4Sight Streaming, we use experience and data analysis to determine which scenarios and visualizations can enhance engagement and betting enjoyment."
The announcement of this cooperation coincides with the 20th anniversary of the partnership between the Bundesliga and Sportradar. Over the past twenty years, the two parties have jointly promoted numerous breakthroughs in the application of sports data, providing innovative experiences for millions of fans and bettors in the global market. Sportradar reports more than 150,000 football matches annually, covering over 900 leagues and events worldwide, with its data depth and breadth leading the industry.
Meanwhile, the Bundesliga is also continuously expanding its cooperation network. Recently, the Bundesliga has renewed its contract with the German Professional Football League (DFL) and Tipico until 2029, demonstrating its long-term layout in the integration of sports and betting industries.
Looking ahead, the cooperation between Sportradar and the Bundesliga will not only promote a richer betting market but will also profoundly change the way fans watch games. Through the combination of AI, data, and streaming, fans will no longer just be viewers but will become real-time participants in the events. This strategic upgrade marks a new chapter in the digital ecosystem of football that the Bundesliga and Sportradar are building together, providing a model for the global sports industry that integrates innovation, entertainment, and commercial value.
