The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) of the Philippines successfully carried out an operation as part of its other law enforcement activities (OLEA) against illegal online gambling.
The operation took place around 3:00 PM on September 4, 2024, at 9-B Grooper Street, Subic Freeport Zone, Zambales Province.
According to the report submitted to the Director of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Leo M. Francisco, the operation rescued 18 Chinese nationals and arrested two suspects, Bao Go and A Hai, involved in human trafficking activities.
The operation was coordinated by the intelligence unit of the CIDG with local law enforcement officers from Olongapo.
The team executed Search Warrant No. 1.
During the operation, the following evidence was seized from the suspects: 18 desktop computers, two (2) CCTV recorders, six (6) Android phones, six (6) iPhones, various documents, bank cards, IDs, passports, a safe vault, and various bolos (knives).
The search was conducted legally and orderly under the supervision of officials from Zambales and representatives from the Department of Social Welfare.
It was confirmed that there were no minors among the rescued individuals. The suspects were informed of their rights under the Constitution and the Anti-Torture Law in a language they understand.
Furthermore, all body cameras and alternative recording devices were activated throughout the operation to ensure transparency and compliance with legal protocols.
The arrested suspects, rescued individuals, and seized evidence are currently detained by the intelligence unit of the CIDG at Camp Rafael T. Crame, Quezon City, for documentation and further disposition.
Director Leo M. Francisco stated that he remains committed to fulfilling the mission of eradicating human trafficking and ensuring the safety and protection of all individuals from exploitation.
