Jaramillo will replace Marcos Cedeño, who declined the position citing "personal reasons".
Panama.- The President of Panama, José Raúl Mulino, appointed Saquina Jaramillo as the new director of the National Lottery of Charity (LNB), replacing Marcos Cedeño, who had initially been nominated, but declined the position citing personal reasons.
According to an official report, Jaramillo holds a bachelor's degree in law and political science from the Universidad Santa María La Antigua and a master's degree in Public Policy Management from ADEN School of Government.
She also has several specializations from The George Washington University in leadership and governance, public management, project management, and public policy.
Professionally, she has served as a legal advisor at the former Institute of Hydraulic Resources and Electrification (IRHE) and the electric generation company Bahía Las Minas S.A.
In the Municipality of Panama, Jaramillo took on roles as alternate magistrate of Pueblo Nuevo, legal assistant of Fiscal Surveillance, head of legal advice of the Judicial Secretariat, secretary of the magistrate's office of Santa Ana, among other municipal positions.

The appointment of Jaramillo comes after Marcos Cedeño, on June 12, presented his declination to the designation made by President Mulino. "I will be eternally grateful for the distinction and the trust placed in me, while I take this opportunity to wish him the best of luck in this commendable mission as President of the Republic," said Cedeño.
Jaramillo, for her part, will face multiple challenges once she takes office. According to ticket sellers, actions must be taken against illegal lottery and the low sale of chances.
