SBC is doubling down on its mission to enhance the status of women in sports betting, iGaming, and related fields by launching the Women Empowerment initiative (WE).
WE aims to connect, educate, and empower women, fostering a community composed of strong and inspired leaders ready to make an impact.
Starting this year in September, SBC will introduce a special program at the SBC Summit, held from September 24-26 at the Lisbon International Exhibition Center. Organizations such as the All-In Diversity Project, the Brazilian Gaming Industry Women's Association (AMIG), the Latin American Gaming Women Association (ASFEG), Global Gaming Women (GGW), SheEOs, the Malta Gaming Women Organization, and Gaming Women - Africa Chapter have already supported this effort to unite and empower women.
SBC’s Vice President of Relationships for Latin America, Lucía Mouriño, stated: “This flagship event attracted 25,000 delegates from around the world and presents a wonderful opportunity for SBC to collaborate with leading organizations, associations, and groups committed to enhancing women's empowerment."
“As event organizers, we are dedicated to providing a space in a male-dominated industry for women to discuss issues important to them. We are thrilled to see the strong support from allies around the world.”
Moreover, SBC holds networking breakfasts at all its events and curates meetings specifically aimed at uniting women through mentoring, bespoke content, and special features.
The latest edition of the CasinoBeats Summit in May dedicated a full day specifically for women in gaming, starting with a relaxing yoga session to a poker championship, providing a comprehensive, powerful, and fun experience.
With less than two months left until the Lisbon conference, SBC has shown its commitment to building a support network that extends beyond the SBC Summit and other events.
The 2024 SBC Summit schedule will include a program designed to foster connections among women. Highlights include specialized gatherings at restaurants, the exhibition site (complete with carefully curated ice-breaking activities), the popular GGW breakfast tradition, and conference content addressing the most relevant issues faced by women in our industry.
Additionally, SBC will hold a small special recognition ceremony for two distinguished women in the industry who have excelled professionally and are committed to mentoring and advocating for women in the sports betting and iGaming sectors.
Mouriño added, “As we embark on this initiative, it’s important to respect and celebrate an existing legend as well as a rising star who is dedicated to empowering her peers, instead of waiting for everything to be ready.”
