Philippine authorities conducted a raid on an unlicensed offshore gaming operator (POGO) center in Pampanga province and reportedly rescued approximately 187 foreign and Filipino workers.
The attack targeted the "Lucky South 99" facility in Angeles City. The rescued people include 158 citizens from China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Myanmar and South Korea.
The incident has reignited the debate over POGO, now known as IGL. Philippine Senator Risa Hontiveros advocated for a total ban, citing cases of rescued workers and ongoing investigations into illegal activities in the industry.
She hopes the National Security Council can come up with a unified strategy to address these issues.
