Philippine officials say phasing out illegal POGOs may be more effective than a blanket ban

He pointed out that there are currently only 42 POGOs operating legally in the Philippines, and there may be more illegal operations elsewhere.

At the same time, House Speaker Martin Romualdez has ordered a congressional investigation into these suspected POGO criminal activities, including Money laundering, human trafficking and other related crimes related to illegal POGOs.

"We cannot allow rogue POGO operators to continue to engage in their illegal behavior," Romualdez said on Friday. stressed, “We must identify and expose the masterminds and protectors behind these activities so that they are punished to the fullest extent of the law.”
