Thailand's Anti-Corruption Commission recently returned the investigation materials of three online gambling cases involving "high-ranking Thai officials and related persons" to the police, requesting the police to continue handling and further investigating. This move means that the case will enter a new round of investigation, and the police need to fully clarify various illegal acts and specific responsible persons. In plain terms, the Anti-Corruption Commission has handed the "hot potato" to the police, and it remains to be seen how the police will respond. According to Thai police, the three case materials have now been transferred to the police headquarters, coordinated by Deputy Chief Police Charoongki Pangai.

The case is transferred to the police, and a special task force will soon be formed

The police plan to set up a special working group to analyze the existing evidence and decide which specific law enforcement department will continue to handle the case. If taken over by the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau, the process of evidence collection and review will be accelerated based on the preliminary investigation results, ensuring that the investigation is both rigorous and swift. After the investigation is completed, the police will legally summon the accusers and the accused for statements, while collecting and verifying related evidence, and then transfer the case to the prosecutorial authorities for further processing.

It is worth noting that the responsibility determination of high-ranking officials and police personnel will also become one of the focuses of the investigation. This indicates that the investigation is not just about catching a few "small fish," but potentially seriously pursuing upper-level protectors.

High-ranking officials become the focus of the investigation, attracting high social attention

Currently, these three online gambling cases have become the focus of public and media attention, especially causing widespread discussion in Thailand's political and business circles and public opinion. Experts point out that such cases typically have several characteristics:

Involving cross-departmental collaboration, requiring cooperation from multiple government units

Complex money flows, difficult to trace

Many involved personnel, with intricate hierarchical relationships

The difficulty of the investigation can be imagined, and the police need to fully integrate resources to ensure the case is advanced fairly and transparently. As the investigation deepens, all sectors of society, especially investors, online platforms, and the public, are highly concerned about the results. Many believe that the way the police handle the case will directly affect the deterrent effect on illegal online gambling activities and the credibility of supervision over high-ranking officials. If this investigation can clarify everything, it will be a heavy blow to Thailand's online gambling black market.
