Philippine digital entertainment giant DigiPlus Interactive Corp. recently revealed plans for a soft launch of its operations in South Africa at the beginning of 2027, officially entering Africa's most mature online gambling sector. The company is actively applying for key licenses and using its past successful experiences to accelerate its overseas expansion.

Announcement of Plans to Enter South Africa
DigiPlus, which owns popular brands such as BingoPlus, President Andy Tsui stated that the company has submitted several license applications to the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board, including national manufacturer and gambling company licenses. The approval process is expected to take about eight months, and they are confident about receiving approval, having made the right strategic moves.
License Application and Strategic Details
In South Africa, DigiPlus will adopt a prudent approach of "get the license first, then form the team." Once the licenses are secured, they will form a local team and adjust the product line according to market research. This strategy was quite effective in Brazil, helping the company to quickly establish a presence. The South African market exceeded $1.6 billion in both 2023 and 2024, making it one of the fastest-growing regions in Africa with a transparent and efficient regulatory environment.
Future Market Outlook
Besides South Africa, the company is also evaluating other emerging markets but will avoid competitive regions like the UK and the US to maintain cost efficiency. This layout shows that DigiPlus's globalization efforts are accelerating, and its compliance-first model is gradually gaining international recognition.
