The police in Da Nang, Vietnam, recently successfully handled a kidnapping case involving foreign nationals, rescuing two Chinese citizens and detaining several suspects. According to a report released by the Criminal Police Department of Da Nang Public Security Bureau on September 17, the case began with a distress call received on September 12.
As revealed by the police, a Chinese citizen reported to the authorities that his friend had been forcibly taken away in Da Nang. Preliminary investigations linked the incident to gambling-related debt disputes. It is alleged that the victims incurred financial losses due to gambling activities, which led to debt disputes with a criminal gang.
During the investigation, the police located an apartment in Hoi An Fang and found two Chinese citizens being held against their will upon taking action. Five suspects were detained at the scene, including one Chinese and four Vietnamese nationals. Evidence related to the case was found at the location.
It is understood that both victims were involved in economic disputes with the criminal gang due to gambling activities. The case is currently under further investigation and review, and the police have stated that they will handle such illegal activities according to the law.
The Da Nang police have warned that in recent years, there has been an increase in illegal detention cases related to gambling.
