Colombia—The Medellin Lottery recently released the first lottery ticket designed by artificial intelligence to commemorate the 203rd anniversary of the issuance of Colombia's first legal lottery. This special edition ticket will be launched on August 8 (Issue 4795), with a grand prize of 16 billion Colombian pesos (about 3.8 million US dollars), and a total prize pool of 42 billion Colombian pesos (about 10 million US dollars), symbolizing the perfect combination of tradition and modern technology.
Rodrigo Mendoza, the manager of Medellin Lottery Bank, explained that the use of artificial intelligence in design not only respects history but also reflects the demand for creative innovation. "The first banknote printed over two hundred years ago has no archived copies, so we used AI to recreate that classic scene of the era: the moment two men exchanged banknotes in a public square, creating a wonderful atmosphere of winning."
According to local media El Caracol, this design uses advanced AI tools, cleverly blending the visual style of the 19th century with modern lottery institution logos and prize names. The center of the ticket also specially features the commemorative text "203rd Anniversary—August 11, 1822—Charity and Public Assistance Lottery."
The design also incorporates important historical milestones of the region, such as the lottery drawing event on the Ocean Road in 1944, and the Independence Day of Antioquia Province. Mendoza emphasized: "This ticket is not only a tribute to the early legal lotteries but also represents the pride of us Antioquians—we respect history, dare to innovate, and are committed to the continuous development of our province."
This AI design is not an isolated attempt but an important part of the modernization strategy of the Medellin Lottery. The institution continues to update designs, combining cultural and social elements, to demonstrate its determination to integrate new technologies, inherit traditions, and connect with the new generation of audiences.
