Before the upcoming interim financial report, Playtech announced a trading update, expecting the adjusted EBITDA for the first half ending June 30, 2025, to reach at least 90 million euros (approximately $103 million), exceeding market expectations.
This performance upgrade is mainly due to the continuous strong performance of its B2B business and the surprise revenue from its associate company Caliente Interactive. Notably, Caliente benefited from favorable sports event outcomes in the second quarter and paid its first dividend to Playtech under a new partnership agreement. Playtech holds about 30.8% of this Mexican gaming company.
Previously, Playtech had warned at the May shareholder meeting that the Latin American market might face challenges, especially in Brazil and Colombia. However, the latest update indicates that the company is gradually achieving substantial results in the region.
Playtech emphasizes that its core strategy remains focused on the development of the B2B business and plans to continue increasing investments in the US and Brazilian markets in the second half of the year. The company stated: "The board is confident in Playtech's ability to execute its strategy as a B2B-led company."
It is worth noting that the adjusted EBITDA figures announced include losses from HappyBet and profits from associate companies but do not include the partially divested Italian Snaitech business.
Playtech will officially announce the interim financial report on September 11, 2025, at which CEO Mor Weizer and CFO Chris McGinnis will host a press conference at the Chartered Accountants' Hall in London and conduct a global live broadcast.
In addition, Playtech continues to expand into global markets, including officially entering the iGaming market in West Virginia, USA, in June, increasing its layout in the US to four states, and has reached cooperation with well-known brands such as BetMGM, DraftKings, and Hard Rock Digital. Meanwhile, its B2B network has also expanded to new markets such as PMU in France and High Roller in Ontario, Canada.
