The ceasefire negotiations for the Thai-Cambodian border conflict were recently initiated in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. As the rotating chair of ASEAN, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar chaired the meeting, with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Thai Deputy Prime Minister Prayut consulting face-to-face for the first time. Representatives from China and the USA were also invited to attend, highlighting the major powers' concern over the regional situation.

According to on-site reports, the atmosphere at the talks was solemn, with Anwar in the middle and leaders from the two countries seated on either side. Hun Manet's proposal for an "immediate ceasefire and restoration of border order" was unanimously approved by all parties, seen as ASEAN's "full support" for Cambodia's stance. Despite the presence of senior Thai officials, their position is under pressure due to the apparent leaning towards Cambodia by multiple parties.

Meanwhile, the cyber warfare has intensified. According to Thai tech company Personar, a Thai hacker group self-identified as "KH Nightmare" breached 47 Cambodian government websites within 1-2 days, stealing about 800GB of sensitive email data. The group claimed this act was a "counterattack" against recent Cambodian cyber activities. Thai experts warn that the Thai-Cambodian conflict is extending from the border to cyberspace, and the regional cybersecurity situation may continue to deteriorate.

This negotiation is considered a critical turning point in the conflict, but whether a true ceasefire agreement can be reached in the future remains uncertain. Against the backdrop of US-China rivalry, Southeast Asia's situation may see a new round of strategic realignment.
