Scientific Games announces an exclusive licensing agreement with Hasbro to introduce classic board games Monopoly and Battleship into its SG Content Hub iLottery game lineup. These new games will be co-developed by UK developer Pixiu Gaming.
Pixiu co-founder Tony Plaskow states that the collaboration with Scientific Games and Hasbro will bring players an innovative lottery game experience that combines brand recognition with entertainment.
This is not the first time board games have ventured into the gambling sector. Companies like Hasbro and Mattel are adapting their classic games into gambling products to further expand the commercialization paths of entertainment IPs. Among them, Monopoly has shown particularly strong performance in the lottery sector, with an expected 33 lottery organizations worldwide to launch themed games by 2025, achieving a total retail and online sales exceeding 2 billion US dollars.
Scientific Games serves 150 lottery organizations globally and has accumulated over a hundred licensed brands, with plans to launch more digital products based on Hasbro IPs such as Yahtzee! and The Game of Life in the future.
Meanwhile, a Monopoly movie is also in development, produced by Margot Robbie, the star of Barbie, further enhancing the cultural heat and market appeal of this classic IP.
