The responsible gambling promotion campaign in Macau officially launched in 2025, themed "Seek Help Early, Win the Future," focusing on the youth demographic. The aim is to enhance public awareness of gambling risks through education and community outreach, encouraging early intervention.
The campaign is co-hosted by the Social Welfare Bureau, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau, and the Institute for the Study of Commercial Gaming at the University of Macau, with extensive support from gaming operators and prevention organizations. The launch ceremony took place at Studio City Cinema, attended by guests including the Director of the Social Welfare Bureau Han Weixin, the Director of the Tourism Bureau Wen Qihua, and representatives from academia and the industry.
According to the introduction, the campaign will run from July to December, covering roadshows, interactive theaters, seminars, educational games, and other diverse formats to deepen the public's understanding of responsible gambling, especially promoting healthy gambling attitudes among young people.
Data shows that the percentage of Macau residents participating in gambling has decreased from 59.2% in 2007 to 30.1% in 2022; awareness of responsible gambling has also significantly increased, from 16.2% in 2009 to 64.9% in 2023. This reflects a gradual shift towards rational gambling culture in Macau.
The launch day also featured a mascot design contest award ceremony and set up interactive exhibition areas, encouraging public participation in quizzes and consultations to strengthen societal awareness and response capabilities regarding gambling risks.
