The UK gambling harm prevention charity BetBlocker announced that since the beginning of 2025, its active users in Brazil have exceeded 20,000, making the country the fastest-growing market globally. The organization noted that this achievement is due to the Portuguese version of the blocking software launched in September 2024, specifically designed to serve Brazil's large gambling population.
BetBlocker provides free tools that allow users to block access to over 90,000 gambling websites and 1,500 gambling apps, offering support to individuals seeking to avoid gambling temptations. Its founder, Duncan Garvie, emphasized that language localization can increase usage tenfold, especially crucial during moments of crisis.
As Brazil's online gambling market rapidly grows, the demand for self-restriction tools also rises significantly. BetBlocker's rapid expansion is also reflected on the international stage. Recently, in addition to Portuguese, the software now supports several languages including Serbian, Japanese, and French, and has successfully joined the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) in the United States, becoming the organization's only gold-level non-profit member, further enhancing its impact globally, especially in North America.
