The Virginia Lottery has officially launched a new virtual sports event lottery product, becoming the first state lottery agency in the United States to offer such a game on a regulated digital platform. This innovative product is powered by Inspired Entertainment and integrated through the Fusion system by Aristocrat Interactive.
This new lottery game, named VSports, is a collaborative effort between the Virginia Lottery, Aristocrat Interactive, NeoPollard Interactive (NPI), and Inspired Entertainment. The game is based on real sports like football, basketball, and horse racing, and uses a certified random number generator to determine the outcomes, ensuring fairness and compliance.
Although VSports is a lottery-style game, it operates at a fast pace, updating every two to three minutes to simulate the experience of watching live sports events. The results are completely independent of actual matches.
NeoPollard Interactive is a joint venture between Aristocrat and Pollard Banknote, leveraging its existing partnership with the Virginia Lottery to facilitate this content launch.
Chris Shaban, General Manager of Aristocrat Interactive iLottery, stated: "The launch of VSports demonstrates how we can drive iLottery innovation through strategic collaboration and provide rich content for players."
Scott Kenyon, Deputy Executive Director of the Virginia Lottery, added: "We believe this virtual sports lottery product will not only offer a novel experience for players but also effectively support our core mission of fundraising for K-12 public education."
It is worth noting that in the first half of 2025, Aristocrat Interactive achieved business breakthroughs in Virginia and North Carolina through its partnership with NPI, contributing 9% to the group's overall revenue growth from its iLottery and digital content segments. The group is focusing on online content development as the core of its long-term digital market expansion strategy.
Inspired Entertainment stated that it will continue to expand its lineup of virtual sports projects, and this launch is the first step in building a broader content strategy for the American lottery system.
