The Ministry of Interior of Cambodia recently issued an official statement, sternly refuting the contents of a report published by a foreign organization titled "Policy and Patterns: The Threat of Transnational Crime under Cambodian National Asylum to Global Security." The ministry pointed out that the claim in the report that "Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sokha is the main investor of Jinbei Casino" is completely false, seriously misleading the international community, and damaging the image of the Cambodian government and its senior officials.
The statement emphasized that Sokha and his family have never held any shares in Jinbei Casino, nor have they derived any economic benefits from it, and there is no so-called "providing shelter for criminal groups." Jinbei Casino is a legally registered and licensed enterprise.
The Ministry of Interior criticized the report for citing a large amount of unverified information, accusing the Cambodian government of being inactive in combating telecommunications fraud, money laundering, and human trafficking. The accusations not only lack objective evidence but also have a strong political manipulation tendency, clearly driven by opposition forces, aiming to destabilize the nation and incite public dissatisfaction.
The statement also mentioned that since Prime Minister Hun Manet took office, the Cambodian government has initiated multiple actions against transnational crime, including setting up special teams, opening reporting channels, and using social media platforms to collect information extensively, enhancing cooperation with law enforcement agencies from multiple countries. The Ministry of Interior acknowledges that in the face of rapidly updating technology and increasingly complex cross-border crimes, it is difficult for a single country to cope alone, requiring broader international collaboration.
Finally, the Cambodian government reiterated its commitment to continue fighting transnational crime, strengthen anti-money laundering legislation and law enforcement cooperation, uphold national security by law, and contribute to regional and global security.
