In recent years, violent incidents targeting Chinese nationals in the Philippines have been frequent and have attracted widespread attention. Last October, a shooting at a hotpot restaurant in Makati City, Manila, resulted in the death of a Chinese citizen. Since the beginning of this year, various incidents of robbery, kidnapping, and armed attacks continue to occur sporadically. Huang Xilian, the Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines, has pointed out in a security lecture that "the public security in the Philippines has recently been unstable... The safety risks faced by Chinese citizens in the Philippines are increasing."
The case is still under investigation, and the police have not yet released more details. The Chinese Embassy in the Philippines has urged local police to clarify the truth as soon as possible and has reminded Chinese citizens in the Philippines to be vigilant and pay attention to personal safety.
