Thai Prime Minister Pei Tongtan Qin Na Wa made a speech after the cabinet meeting at the Prime Minister's Office, stating that the entertainment complex bill still needs further study and is not yet ready for cabinet review.
When asked about the protesters opposing the bill gathering in front of the Prime Minister's Office and whether the government intends to compromise or accept related conditions, Pei Tongtan stated that the government will listen to the people's opinions, emphasizing that the voice of the people is crucial and that the government will seriously listen to all opinions and fully explain to the public, so that society can eventually reach a consensus.
As for why the government is not yet ready to submit the bill for cabinet review, despite previously pushing the project vigorously, Pei Tongtan explained that although the government has accelerated the pace, it still needs to carefully listen to various opinions and prudently study relevant laws and regulations.
She emphasized that Thailand has never had a similar project, so it must be especially cautious in legislation and regulation, not to rush, and to ensure that all details are clear and explicit before making a decision.
When asked whether the regulation that Thai citizens need to have 50 million Thai Baht in their bank accounts to enter casinos is still valid, Pei Tongtan responded that this issue still needs further study.
If a response is made now, it might lead to inconsistencies in policy, so it is necessary to wait for the final conclusion before making an explanation.
