According to Philippine media, Philippine President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. has accepted the resignation of National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) Commissioner Edilberto Leonardo.
The acting minister of the Presidential Communications Office confirmed this news to the presidential palace reporters on October 14.
On October 8, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin signed a letter to Interior Minister Jonvic Remulla stating that the resignation request had been accepted and was effective immediately. Leonardo, a former official under President Rodrigo Duterte, was accused of murdering three Chinese drug offenders in Davao prison in 2016, and killing former Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) board secretary Wesley Barayuga in 2020.
However, Leonardo has denied both allegations.
