Sports betting revenue in Virginia, US, climbed 29 per cent in August but the figure translated to a month-on-month decline.
Revenue in the state hit US$35m in August, according to the Virginia Lottery, up from $27.9m a year ago.
But the figure could not match July 2024’s $40.4m in sports betting revenue.
Sports betting handle in Virginia rose 30.6 per cent year-on-year to $416.7m from $319m.
And there was also a month-on-month handle rise from July’s $377.6m.
As for sports betting taxes, the figure rose 26.2 per cent year-on-year in August to $5.2m, up from $4.2m.
But there was a monthly decline of $13.4m from the $6.1m posted in July.
