Between January and August 2024, lottery, chance and Scratch & List games have transferred nearly US$396.94bn to the health sector in Colombia.
“This figure represents a 10 per cent increase in transfers compared to the same period of the previous year," said the president of Coljuegos, Marco Emilio Hincapié Ramírez.
"We hope to continue with this growth to exceed the transfer goal of territorial games, set at $470bn for this year.”
With these resources that were transferred to local and departmental health funds, nearly 316,000 Colombians benefit from the subsidised regime, who can access the different medical services throughout the national territory.
“This increase in transfers is due, to a large extent, to the actions that we have taken from the National Council of Games of Luck and Chance to promote the industry through strategies such as the authorisation of the use of results of foreign draws and the capitalisation of the lotteries, among others,” he said.
“This is also due to the efforts in the fight against illegality that we are making with the territorial entities, mainly to combat activities such as the falsification of lottery tickets.”
