The dismissed mayor of Banban City, Tarlac Province, Philippines, Alice Guo, was handed over to Philippine officials by Indonesian authorities in Jakarta on Thursday afternoon, September 5.
Philippine Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos and Philippine National Police Chief Rommel Marbil personally received Guo.
Guo was placed on the immigration watch list due to investigations into her real identity as a Chinese citizen and her alleged illegal activities with a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) in Tarlac Province.
Before the handover, Abalos told reporters that Philippine and Indonesian authorities had agreed on the procedures and negotiations for Guo's deportation.
"We have negotiated with Indonesian officials, of course, with their police force, even with their generals, and we have discussed all necessary matters," Abalos said.
("Negotiations with Indonesian officials have concluded. Of course, discussions were also held with their police forces and generals. Certainly, we have discussed the necessary matters.")
"We will take Alice Guo. The relevant documents are being processed, and we will send her back to the Philippines," he added.
Upon entering the room, Guo extended her hand to shake hands with Abalos and said, "Hello, Minister."
She was dressed in a black and white striped shirt, a long black skirt, a black mask, and glasses, and was carrying a brown bag.
According to Abalos, their flight with Guo might be around 6 PM or even earlier.
According to the announcement, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) stated that Abalos, Marbil, and Guo are expected to arrive in the Philippines around 8:30 PM.
Philippine National Police spokesperson Jean Fajardo stated that once Guo arrives in the Philippines, she will be taken to Camp Crame for a medical examination.
Afterward, she will be handed over to the Senate, as there is an existing arrest warrant for her, Fajardo said.
"The plan is, when Alice Guo is handed over to them, she will be taken to Camp Crame for a medical examination to ensure she is in good health, and then she will be handed over to the Senate, as there is an existing arrest warrant for her," Fajardo said at a press conference in the Philippines.
