MGM Resorts has signed an agreement with Grupo Globo to launch the BetMGM brand platform in Brazil, expected to debut in early 2025.
This move requires obtaining the necessary licenses to operate sports betting and iGaming platforms within that jurisdiction.
The joint venture will combine LeoVegas's technology with Grupo Globo's regional consumer knowledge to create a product filled with MGM Resorts content and branding.
MGM Resorts CEO and President Bill Hornbuckle stated: "MGM Resorts is committed to being a leading global gaming entertainment company, and establishing a strategic alliance with Grupo Globo and entering the Brazilian market is an important step in our growth strategy and a key milestone."
To support this product, headquarters will be established in São Paulo, led by a team composed of talents from both companies.
MGM has confirmed that it may also hire new employees to ensure a smooth launch and ongoing operations.
Hornbuckle continued, "Brazil is one of the most exciting and dynamic emerging gaming markets globally, and no company has higher visibility and expertise in this market than Grupo Globo.
"This historic alliance allows us to enter the market swiftly with the necessary scale and expertise, thus becoming a leading operator and provider of the best experiences for customers across Brazil."
Once approved by the local gaming regulatory authority, the MGM and Grupo Globo joint venture will announce more details.
Regarding licenses, Softswiss is ready to become the first certified software provider in Brazil, while still providing aid to the recent flood victims.
