Burnley FC's chief first-team performance analyst Richard Brady has been sanctioned by the Football Association (FA) for misconduct related to betting.
Bradys admitted breaching FA Rule E1.2 and was fined £4,500 ($5,742) and banned from all football-related activity for 12 months.
The breach involved 456 bets placed on football matches or other football-related matters between November 1, 2014 and December 13, 2022.
The ban is divided into two parts: six months effective immediately and the remaining six months until the end of the 2025-26 season.
This phased suspension approach can delay the implementation of some penalties.
The FA's Independent Regulatory Committee provided its reasons for the decision in written form, detailing the extent of Brady's gambling activities and the reasons for imposing the sanction. The document is available for public inspection for anyone wishing to learn more about the case.
The incident highlights the ongoing challenges facing football authorities in regulating sports betting and is the latest in a series of football-related bans.
Last year, for example, Newcastle footballer Sandro Tonali was sanctioned for 18 months by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) following a "betting investigation".
In addition, the Italian Football Association's request to FIFA for a worldwide ban has been approved, preventing Tonali from participating in several important competitions.
Brentford striker Ivan Toney was also banned for eight months last year for similar gambling offences.
