Recently, Pattaya City in Chonburi Province, Thailand, has been anything but quiet, as the police conducted a raid and shut down an illegal casino operating in a hotel lobby. The operation was significant, involving the second district criminal police, immigration police, and tourist police, ultimately arresting five Chinese nationals involved and seizing items like playing cards and cash.

The police received a tip-off and struck directly

Under the command of Pattaya City Police Chief Surawut Nuachan, the police confirmed the presence of illegal gambling activities in a hotel in the Naglu area after receiving reliable informant information. Upon arrival, the police found four suspects playing the "Three Card" gambling game and immediately identified themselves and made the arrests. Another suspect standing nearby was also controlled and taken away. This operation was swift and precise, effectively ending the ongoing gambling session.

All five admitted guilt, with the organizer charging a management fee

After interrogation by translators, the situation of the five suspects was quickly clarified. The four who were gambling admitted their involvement in gambling. The fifth person, standing aside, had a different role—he admitted he was the organizer, responsible for managing this temporary casino and charging participants a fee of one thousand Thai Baht (about over a thousand RMB) every four hours for profit. Currently, the police have charged the four gamblers with "participating in gambling without a license and gambling with property," while the organizer faces a more severe charge of "organizing gambling for profit."

The enforcement process was transparent, with full video recording

The Thai police emphasized the legality and transparency of the procedures in this operation. They stated that the entire process from arrest to control was recorded on video and audio, and although there was a brief interruption due to equipment failure, it was sufficient to confirm that no abuse or human rights violations occurred during the enforcement. The case details have also been reported to the Pattaya Prosecutor's Office and the Center for Prevention of Torture and Missing Persons, and recorded through the administrative department's website. The suspects themselves have reviewed the record documents and received complete copies as legal evidence.
