Boyd Gaming recently opened the new casino Cadence Crossing in Henderson, Nevada, marking the company's first new casino development project in 20 years. The new property covers about 24,000 square feet and features 450 slot machines, sports betting kiosks, dining areas, and social spaces, aimed at serving the rapidly expanding residential communities nearby. In plain terms, as the residential area grows, the casino needs to keep pace.

From Joker's Wild to Cadence Crossing: A Twenty-Year Upgrade

The new casino is located along Boulder Highway, adjacent to one of America's fastest-growing planned communities, Cadence. This project replaces the Joker's Wild casino, which has been in operation for about 30 years and is set to be demolished soon. Boyd executives noted that the demographic structure of the surrounding community has changed dramatically, "Five years ago, there weren't thousands of residents here, now we are offering them modern entertainment products." The new casino broke ground in April 2025 and was completed and opened within a year, a speed described by the local mayor as "unprecedented."

Community-Oriented: 450 Slot Machines + Affordable Dining, Continuity with Staff and Regular Customers

Cadence Crossing is positioned as a local community casino, focusing on value strategies. The central bar has 22 seats, and two restaurants—Tin Lizard Bar & Grill offering fusion cuisine, and Tacos Los Gauchos as a 24-hour fast food option. Promotions include low-priced beers, cocktails, and special meal deals. The company retained all employees from Joker’s Wild and added more staff, with many regular customers recognizing familiar faces on opening day. The mayor of Henderson praised the project for "beautifying the community" and thanked Boyd for their investment and confidence in the area.

Future Plans: Space Reserved for Expansion, No Traditional Table Games Yet

Although currently smaller than other Boyd properties, Cadence Crossing has reserved space for future expansion. If demand supports it, additional hotels and more gaming options may be added. Currently, the casino does not offer traditional table games, substituting with electronic versions of blackjack, roulette, and craps. The company stated that as the community continues to develop, the property will evolve accordingly. Interested in the latest updates on regional casinos in the US?
