The Philippine National Police recently ordered its cybercrime unit to intensify efforts against illegal activities conducted through online gaming apps, following reports that the popular gaming platform Roblox might be involved in child exploitation. The PNP Chief stated that the police's duty has extended to cyberspace, especially in providing protection for children, which is the essence of modern policing. Simply put, no matter how popular a gaming platform is, it cannot become a breeding ground for juvenile crime.

Interdepartmental Collaboration: PNP Joins Forces with DICT and CICC for Investigation
The PNP is closely working with the Department of Information and Communications Technology and the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center to investigate potential illegal activities on Roblox, including sexual assault, inducement, and exploitation of minors. Previously, on March 16, the CICC signed a cooperation agreement with the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission to enhance the national crackdown on digital organized crime, particularly illegal online gambling. The PNP emphasized that not only Roblox but other online gaming and social platforms are also under strict surveillance.
Law Enforcement Upgrade: Data on Illegal Gambling Sites Transferred, Suspects to Face Charges
The CICC previously collaborated with Digital Pinoys to collect and verify data on illegal gambling websites, apps, and their promoters for a month. The findings have been handed over to the PNP Cybercrime Unit. Suspects will face charges under the Cybercrime Prevention Act and other relevant laws, such as conspiracy to commit fraud.
