DraftKings and ESPN announce the launch of a new account linking feature, allowing users to connect their accounts between the two platforms and introduce personalized betting tools and interactive features around major sports events such as the March Madness starting on March 17. This integration aims to simplify the process of switching between sports reporting and betting options, marking a key step in the fusion of sports media and gambling by two giants. In plain terms, it means that your predictions filled out on ESPN directly become betting options on DraftKings, eliminating the need to manually search for matches.

"Betting on Predictions": Turning predictions into cash

Users can link their ESPN accounts through the DraftKings Sportsbook app. Once linked, players who have submitted their predictions in the ESPN Tournament Challenge will see betting opportunities that correspond to their choices. The core feature "Bet Your Bracket" will push betting market options matching the user's predictions in ESPN's popular college basketball games. The system will also design additional bets around these predictions, creating a customized sports betting experience during the tournament. To encourage users to enable linking, both parties will also gift a month of ESPN Unlimited membership to users who complete the linking.

Deepening cooperation: From data supply to account interoperability

This account linking is built on the existing cooperation between the two companies. Since the joint venture project between Disney and PENN Entertainment ended last December, DraftKings has officially become ESPN's official gambling provider, integrating odds into ESPN's broadcasts and digital reporting, and introducing parlay options in shows like "First Take" and "NFL Live", as well as providing odds data for PGA Tour's ESPN Live BetCast. Mike Morrison, Vice President of ESPN Gambling and Fantasy Sports, stated that the account linking creates an unmatched level of personalization in the market, "Betting on Predictions" is just the beginning, and in the future, fans will be able to seamlessly track their betting status on the ESPN app and website, and receive customized bets and promotions based on their favorite teams, players, and fantasy lineups.

Ecosystem layout: Paving the way for a super app

This feature is also part of a larger strategy by DraftKings to expand its product ecosystem. The company recently announced plans for a unified platform integrating sports betting, online casinos, Jackpocket lottery, and prediction markets, with the upcoming DraftKings Sports & Casino app allowing users to access various game formats through a single interface. In states like California, Florida, and Texas where sports betting is not yet open, DraftKings has already allowed users to participate in prediction markets through the Predictions feature. Financially, DraftKings continues to grow strongly, with revenues nearing $2 billion in the fourth quarter of 2025, a 43% year-over-year increase. The exact launch date of the account linking feature has not been announced by the two companies, but it is expected to be launched before the start of March Madness.
