FIFA has agreed to extend and expand its long-term integrity partnership with the Sportradar Group, continuing monitoring and investigative services until 2031 as global football betting activities continue to grow. This five-year renewal agreement deepens the cooperation that began in 2017, centered on AI-driven betting monitoring, providing expanded intelligence, investigative support, and specialized risk assessment services for FIFA and its 211 member associations. Simply put, with the World Cup approaching, it's time to further tighten the net against match-fixing.

AI monitors 600,000 matches, covering men's and women's football at all levels
Under the updated agreement, Sportradar will continue to provide AI-driven betting monitoring and add specialized risk assessment services. The monitoring scope covers men's and women's FIFA international events, international and club events hosted by continental football associations, top two-tier leagues of member associations for both men's and women's football, and major national cup competitions. Since the partnership, Sportradar has monitored over 600,000 matches globally, with its proprietary Universal Fraud Detection System relying on over 20 years of historical betting data and combining information from operator reporting channels. The Executive Vice President of Sportradar Integrity Services stated that the system is designed to address risks jointly through AI technology, rapid operator reporting, and global educational prevention programs.
Integrity data: 1116 suspicious matches marked in 2025
FIFA continues to rely on Sportradar's Integrity division, which monitored over one million events across more than 70 sports globally in 2025. Sportradar's "2025 Integrity in Action" report shows that in 2025, a total of 1116 suspicious matches were marked, involving 84 countries, and leading to 125 sanctions. This number represents a 24% increase from 2024. Football remains the sport with the most suspicious matches, totaling 618 (730 in 2024), followed closely by basketball with 233 matches. The report indicates that the decrease in numbers suggests progress in enforcement and education, but the scale of match-fixing globally remains widespread.
On the eve of the World Cup, multiple parties join forces to safeguard
This renewal comes as FIFA prepares for the expanded 2026 World Cup, which will kick off on June 11 in North America and last nearly 40 days. Industry data predicts that US fans' betting on the 2026 World Cup may exceed the $1.8 billion wagered on the 2022 event. To enhance protection, FIFA has also added Integrity Compliance 360 to its World Cup special task force, including event organizers, teams, betting platforms, as well as Sportradar, the US Department of Justice, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the International Betting Integrity Association among external partners. The task force is dedicated to maintaining competition integrity during the matches through coordination and information sharing between regulatory bodies, law enforcement, and the betting industry.
