Vietnam's northern Yun Tun Economic Zone welcomes a mega tourism and entertainment project. Recently, Sun Group held a groundbreaking ceremony for this large-scale integrated resort with a total investment of up to 2 billion US dollars. The project covers more than 244 hectares and is planned according to the concept of a "resort city," aiming to create an international all-weather tourist destination. Among them, the much-anticipated casino part is planned to open in 2028, while the entire project is expected to be fully completed by 2034.
The Blueprint and Vision of the Mega Project
This colossal project located near the World Heritage Site of Ha Long Bay is ambitiously planned. The developer, Sun Group, claims that they are building not just a resort but a "resort city." The overall plan follows the concept of "art in the landscape," using natural scenery as the core design element, rather than just a backdrop.
The entire area is designed with interconnected landscape axes, pedestrian boulevards, and public squares, hoping to make tourists willing to stay and play for several more days throughout the year. The first phase of the project includes a large hotel cluster operated by the Marriott brand, featuring thousands of international standard rooms. In addition, beachfront villas, commercial districts, and a dazzling array of dining, retail, and entertainment facilities are also in the blueprint.
Casino Pilot and Economic Driving Force
The most eye-catching part of the project is undoubtedly its casino entertainment area. According to Vietnam's pilot policy, local citizens will also be allowed to participate. Sun Group sees this as the "key highlight" of the entire resort city, hoping it will significantly increase tourist interest and extend their stay. The company openly states that the project aims to establish a development model that can compete with international entertainment destinations such as Macau, Singapore, and Las Vegas.
Sun Group's Deputy General Manager Nguyen Thai Hoai Anh stated that this project, combining the positioning of a world-class resort city and the local citizen casino pilot policy, is expected to help form a new, standardized, and sustainable service industry sector and become a key force in driving Yun Tun's transformation into a modern marine economic zone and a regional tourism and entertainment center.
Infrastructure Upgrades and Regional Development
The project's advancement is timely. In recent years, Yun Tun's international airport has been put into operation, and the highway connecting Ha Long, Yun Tun, and Mang Street has greatly improved transportation, making it easier for tourists from major economic centers to arrive. According to PASA's official website's observation of global regulatory dynamics, Vietnam is cautiously exploring new paths for tourism and economic diversification through such large-scale pilot projects.
On the day of the foundation laying, Guangning Province also started 26 other projects simultaneously, with a staggering total investment. The local government expects the province's economic growth to exceed 11% by 2025. Once this resort city is fully built, it will become the first large-scale resort city in northern Vietnam, mainly attracting tourists from Northeast Asia and domestically, and is expected to stimulate comprehensive development in commerce, tourism services, and vacation real estate.
