Thai police crack down on online gambling: From Chiang Mai to Bangkok, case details fully exposed.

Thai police have recently launched a high-pressure crackdown on online gambling and cybercrime, achieving significant results within just two months. Data shows that the police have cracked 956 online gambling cases, arrested 1,003 suspects, and blocked over 75,000 illegal URLs. The operation covered a wide area from Chiang Mai in the north to Bangkok in the south, highlighting the intensified enforcement efforts.

According to the report from the Royal Thai Police Headquarters, from October 1 to November 18, the AFC system blocked 75,250 illegal contents, including 26,674 Facebook pages, 19,994 other URLs, 19,334 websites, 6,424 Line accounts, and 2,824 TikTok contents. The main reporting units were the Anti-Cybercrime Command, Southern Police Region, and the 9th Police Region. These numbers are truly astonishing.

Detailed Analysis of Key Cases

Two cases in particular drew attention. In Bangkok, the police dismantled the SBOBET.LIVE and UFACLUB1 gambling networks, arresting 10 suspects (including 3 wanted criminals), seizing 30.32 million Thai Baht in cash, over 100 ATM cards, and 22 mobile phones, and freezing assets worth about 20 million Thai Baht. The "Mountain Sealing Operation" in Chiang Mai targeted the Heng168 website, arresting 9 people at 5 locations, confiscating luxury cars, 17 mobile phones, and freezing real estate valued at about 40 million Thai Baht.

Follow-up Measures and Public Reminder

Anti-money laundering officials revealed that assets totaling approximately 2.4 billion Thai Baht will be frozen in the 2024 to 2025 fiscal year through cases related to online gambling and others. The police remind the public to enhance their cybersecurity awareness and avoid transferring money through unfamiliar accounts. The police emphasize that they will continue to strictly enforce anti-money laundering regulations and vigorously recover illegal
