A merchant encountered a "empty hand for chips" scam at a casino in the Philippines, losing up to 20 million pesos (approximately 2.5 million RMB). The police arrested a suspect in Dasmariñas City, Cavite Province, through a tracking device placed in a suitcase, and recovered part of the cash. The case involves fake chips and false investment baits, and currently one suspect has been charged, with two more on the run.

Background of the Scam
According to the Southern Police District of the Philippines, the 58-year-old suspect "Bobby" and his accomplices lured a 43-year-old businessman under the guise of a "guaranteed profit Baccarat investment". The victim was promised that an investment of 20 million pesos in cash could be exchanged for casino chips worth $400,000 to participate in a "guaranteed win project". The victim is from Liba City, Pampanga Province.
Implementation of the Scam
The businessman took it for real and handed over the cash to the suspect "Roger" at a hotel in Pasay City, Manila. After the transaction was completed, the suspect disappeared with the money. The victim then activated the suitcase tracking system and found that the funds had been transferred to Cavite Province.
Police Action
Based on the tracking information, the police arrested "Bobby" in a restaurant in Dasmariñas City, seized the suitcase, fake chips, and the involved vehicle. Verification showed that the chips were all counterfeit, and only about 15 million pesos were recovered, with the remaining 5 million pesos missing.
Follow-up on the Case
The suspect "Bobby" has been transferred to the Pasay City Police Station and will be charged with fraud. The police are currently pursuing the fugitives "Raffy" and "Roger". This case serves as a warning to the public that casino "guaranteed profit projects" are often scams, and vigilance is needed.
