The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has issued formal warnings to Hollycorn NV and Stellar, finding both companies in violation of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 (IGA) for providing prohibited gambling services to Australian players without authorization.

Firstly, Hollycorn NV was found to have breached section 15(2A) of the IGA. Investigations revealed that its operated website, Slot Mafia (slotmafia.com), offered prohibited casino-style gambling activities to Australian customers, including games purely based on luck as well as those combining luck and skill.

It is noteworthy that this is not the first infraction for Hollycorn NV. In May of this year, the company received a formal warning for providing unlicensed gambling services to Australian users through its Neospin platform, and was also warned in April for illegal gambling activities related to the same platform.

Secondly, Stellar's actions were found to be in violation of sections 15(2A) and 15AA(3) of the IGA. The investigation showed that its operated website, Spinanga (spinanga4894.com/au), illegally offered gambling and regulated betting services without obtaining a license issued by any Australian state or territory.

ACMA pointed out that customers from Australia could access and use both platforms, thereby establishing the "Australian customer link" as defined by the IGA, which further aggravated the illegality.

The regulatory body emphasized that offshore gambling operators must comply with Australian laws. According to the IGA, any prohibited or unlicensed gambling business targeting Australians could constitute a serious violation, triggering civil penalties.

The formal warning is just one part of ACMA's enforcement tools. In addition to written warnings, the regulatory authority can also impose civil penalties, issue prohibitions, and even request the blocking of related websites and services.
