With the launch of high-speed, low-latency satellite internet, Angola's online gambling and gaming industry is undergoing significant transformation. The service launched by Angola Internet Technology Company (ITA), a subsidiary of Paratus Group, has officially gone live, with the most advanced OneWeb telecom port facilities being activated in the capital, Luanda.
This satellite port serves as a bridge between low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites and end-users, enabling stable and fast internet connections even in remote areas. ITA's General Manager Francisco Pinto Leite stated, "With the Eutelsat OneWeb service, we are breaking geographical barriers, fully unleashing the potential of Angolan businesses." Paratus Group CEO Schalk Erasmus added, "This is a game-changing move that brings reliable, high-quality connections to users across the country."
Angola's gambling and online gaming industry is in a phase of rapid growth. In the first half of 2025, the industry's tax revenue reached 13.23 billion Kenyan Shillings (approximately 12.8 million Euros), a 64% increase year-over-year. As satellite internet covers more remote areas, the number of players and the scale of online transactions are expected to further increase.
This technology not only benefits urban players but also enables town and rural users to participate in multiplayer games, esports live streaming, and online gambling, enjoying real-time betting and secure transactions. Additionally, the low-latency connection provides operators with fair competition and interactive innovation. Although the satellite network also supports industries such as oil, natural gas, mining, and finance, its impact on the online gambling and gaming industry is particularly pronounced.
