The Philippines continues to strengthen its efforts to combat cybercrime. According to data released in August by Brigadier General Bernard Yang, head of the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG), in July 2025, a total of 143 cybercrime cases were solved nationwide, resulting in the arrest of 106 entrapment suspects and 37 wanted fugitives. The wide scope of the investigations has attracted public attention.
This operation also successfully rescued 18 victims and assisted in prosecuting 8 main suspects of online fraud. Within a month, the police executed 126 cyber search warrants, initiated 171 legal actions, and launched 84 new investigations, 1227 cyber patrols and monitoring tasks, and 76 digital forensic analyses, reaching a new high in law enforcement density for the year.
Brigadier General Yang pointed out that this wave of operations is a strategic deployment by the National Police Chief General Torre III, aimed at striking hard against online fraud and transnational criminal gangs, especially in the context of an increasingly complex cyber environment and active foreign population in the Philippines, making law enforcement more intense.
He also called on the public to enhance their awareness of cyber security, to bravely report suspicious activities, and to jointly create a safe and transparent cyberspace. "Cybercrime knows no borders, and the police are advancing both online and offline investigations, leaving no place for offenders to hide," he warned.
In the context of high incidence of cybercrime and strict law enforcement in the Philippines, foreigners involved in illegal employment or the "grey market," especially the Chinese community, are also becoming a focus of attention.
