Recently, the Thai military has intensified its surveillance of a "transnational criminal network" composed of Chinese cyber fraud and gambling gangs. According to Thai media reports, this network is suspected of secretly providing technical and network support to Cambodia, assisting in drone interference and public opinion offensives against the Thai border, causing ongoing turmoil in the border areas.
The report states that these gang members include skilled "hackers" and "social media operators" who specialize in disrupting Thai social order through cyber attacks and manipulation of public opinion. Some of these attacks are even suspected to be linked to recent border drone incidents.
Although the Thai military has not yet officially disclosed more investigative details, it has coordinated actions with the police and national security departments to strengthen surveillance of both the border and cyberspace, preparing to launch a crackdown.
There is currently no evidence to suggest that the Cambodian side has officially sheltered these Chinese gangs. However, security experts point out that such transnational criminal networks may be influencing regional security from behind the scenes, and the involved interest chains may extend far beyond traditional fraud, indicating that the gray market structure in Southeast Asia has entered a new phase.
