The Cambodian Commercial Gambling Management Committee issued a notice announcing the suspension of the business license of the "HENG HENG I" casino located in Snuol District, Kratie Province. This is the first casino to have its license revoked by officials for alleged illegal activities recently, attracting widespread attention in the industry.
According to the notice, the casino's license number is 266, held by HENG PHNOM PROS Import and Export Co., Ltd., originally issued on December 17, 2024, under the name "HENG HENG I". The license is now officially suspended, with no specific resumption date set.
Although the announcement did not specify the reasons for the revocation, it is widely believed in the gambling industry that the casino may be involved in online gambling, telecommunications fraud, and other illegal activities. It is speculated that this penalty is the latest action by the Cambodian authorities to rectify the chaos in the gambling industry and combat cross-border crime, especially given the frequent reports of casino connections with telecom fraud in places like Kratie and Sihanoukville.
In recent years, the Cambodian government has continued to strengthen the regulation of the gambling industry, aiming to eradicate illegal online gambling, money laundering, and fraud activities. The revocation of the "HENG HENG I" license may indicate that more problematic casinos will be investigated and rectified in succession.
